Letâs talk about French Christmas movies.
Â
Thereâs a not a lot of them. But some are really worth watching!
Â
They get you into what a French Christmas looks like.
Â
Food, culture and all.
Â
But donât expect a Hollywood production type of story.
Â
Weâre not into the joyful, happy ending, hopeful and Christmas spirit kind.
Â
All of those movies are sad, funny, miserable,  mysterious,âŠÂ
Â
Enjoy đÂ

Joyeux Noël (2005)
December 1914, German, French and British are fighting. Itâs the First World War.
Â
But itâs also Christmas, and itâs time to make peace. Even if only for a few hours.
Â
This movie is beautiful. Truly. I cried. (Although I cry easily in front of movies, cute puppies and stuff⊠Donât judge.)
Â
Also, a perfect movie for the future multilingual in you, since itâs in French, English and German.
Â
Plus, itâs based on true fact. So History geeks, this is for you.
Le PÚre Noël est une ordure (1982)
When youâre sad and lonely, in need to speak to a friend, you can always call âSOS-dĂ©tresse-amitiĂ©â.
Â
And Christmas Eve is always their busiest night.
Â
Although, this year might not be what they expected it to beâŠ
Â
This is the third movie of Le Splendid, a group of French actors (all of them are now super famous in France).
Â
Itâs a cult comedy. And it runs on TV every year since it was released in the 80âs.
Les Bronzés font du ski (1979)
Another Splendid film. Same actors, different characters, different story.
Â
This particular movie is the second of a series called âLes BronzĂ©sâ (the tanned).
Â
Translated in English as âFrench Fried Vacationsâ, so you might find it under this name.
Â
A group of friends decided to spend their holidays in the mountains, where some of them work.
Â
Cult moment to remember – âEtoiles des neiiiigessssâ
8 Femmes (2002)
Everyone is coming back home for Christmas. Gaby, Augustine, Mamy, Pierette, Suzon, Catherine, Madame Chanel, Louise,⊠Everyone is here. Except Monsieur.
Â
Because heâs dead in his room.
Â
Told you French Christmas movies werenât hopefully joyful.
Â
In Huit Femmes, you’ll meet the jewel of French actresses.
