Ca va. / Ca va bien.
It’s the most basic way to say I am fine in French.
It literally means – it’s going.
Fun fact: Ca va? is also the question!
So there is such a thing as a French conversation that goes like this:
Ca va?
Ca va. Ca va?
Ca va.
😄
Bien!
Standard and easy way to answer you’re doing good!
Just like in English actually. French’s easy!
Je vais bien. / Tout va bien.
Oh, either something’s wrong.
Or this is just a very neutral way to say you’re fine.
A bit like when you man answers ‘I’m fine’ and it’s a complete LIE. ahah
You can throw a merci after, for good measure.
En pleine forme! / Je pète la forme.
Yeah! That’s better!
It literally means “in great shape”.
But it doesn’t matter what size you are! How cool is that?
“Je pète la forme” is a more casual way to say it. If you’re over 50, try to avoid it, unless you want to be funny.
Super./ Du tonnerre. / Ça baigne.
The quintessence of the casual!
Be careful with those, you might just become a cool person instantly 😁
