6 easy French tongue twisters for beginners
French tongue twisters usually play on two similar sounds. But, I tried to find a few easy ones to start our challenge.
Here they are.
- Son chat chante sa chanson – His/her cat sings her/his song.
- Cinq chiens chassent six chats – Five dogs run after six cats.
- Si mon tonton tond ton tonton, ton tonton sera tondu – If my uncle chaves your uncle, your uncle will be shaved.
- Je suis ce que je suis, et si je suis ce que je suis, qu’est-ce que je suis? – I am what I am, and if I am what I am, what am I?
- Ce ver vert sévère, sait verser ses verres verts. – This strict green worm knows how to pour his green glasses.
- Si six scies scient six cyprès, six cent scies scient six cent cyprès. – If six saw saw six cypress, six hundred saw saw six hundred cypress.
Now it’s your time to say them. Help your pronunciation with the video, in which I say them and decompose them for you.
And once you got those ones done. It’s time to try harder ones.

I wanted to use the tongue-twisters with my Year 7 class but they’re full of spelling mistakes! Obviously, no-one bothered proofreading them.
Should I consider this as your proof-reading application?
